Geometry of Spatial Forms by Peter C. Gasson
Ellis Horwood, Ltd. | 1983 | ISBN: 0853126208, 0470200111, 047020009X, 0853126526 | 561 pages | Djvu | 6,5 MB
This comprehensive text contains all important concepts
and formulae of applicable geometry necessary for a
complete understanding of the subject. Now available for
the first time in a single volume, it meets the present and
future needs of architects, engineers and designers. Clearly
and elegantly written, profusely illustrated with line dia-
grams, it may be read either with complete continuity or
piecemeal, one section at a time. A great many mathe-
matical concepts are introduced in a form which is easy to
follow for readers new to this subject. The author will
inspire and encourage those who have need to sharpen their
geometrical wits, develop their powers of visualisation, and
improve t"eir spatial comprehension.
The author fosters a better overall understanding of the
complete geometrical syllabus, and promotes its widespread
application. The book has become a standard undergraduate
treatment of the relevant geometrical aspects, and intro-
duces the reader to the broader reaches of computational
geometry for design and man.ufacture.
The remarkable success of this course text in its first year
of publication has encouraged the author and the publishers
to issue a reprint with revisions. It now possesses the added
bounty of some 200 individual problem exercises, both to
reinforce its didactic qualities and to and establish
student comprehension. The author has provided answers
to most problems, and hints (where appropriate), all
cross-referenced to the appropriate section of the text.
Readership: Engineers, designers and architects in civil, mechanical,
production and structural engineering. Aeronautical, automobile,
architectural and marine engineers. Programmers, software writers,
and all with an interest in computer-aided engineering. Lecturers
and undergraduate students of mathematics and related fields.

Advanced Control Engineering by Butterworth-Heinemann
Advanced Control Engineering provides a complete course in control engineering for undergraduates of all technical disciplines. Starting with a basic overview of elementary control theory this text quickly moves on to a rigorous examination of more advanced and cutting edge date aspects such as robust and intelligent control, including neural networks and genetic algorithms.
With examples from aeronautical, marine and many other types of engineering, Roland Burns draws on his extensive teaching and practical experience presents the subject in an easily understood and applied manner. Control Engineering is a core subject in most technical areas.
Problems in each chapter, numerous illustrations and free Matlab files on the accompanying website are brought together to provide a valuable resource for the engineering student and lecturer alike.

Description:
The book provides a solid and unitary mathematical foundation of the basic and advanced principles of aerodynamics. The densities of the fundamental solutions are determined from singular integral equations. The fundamental solutions method in aerodynamics was considered for the first time and used by the author in over 30 papers published in prestigious journals (e.g. QAM, AIAA, ZAMM, etc) in order to develop a unitary theory. The boundary element method is used for numerical approximations in compressible aerodynamics. The text incorporates several original contributions, among other traditional mathematical methods. The book also represents a comprehensive presentation of research results since the seminal books on aerodynamics of Ashley and Landahl (1965) and Katz & Plotkin (1991). A rigorous mathematical approach is used to present and explain classic and modern results in this field of science. The author has therefore conceived several appendices on the Distribution Theory, the singular Integral Equations Theory, the Finite Part, Gauss Quadrature Formulae, etc. The book is concluded by a relevant bibliographical list which is especially useful for researchers. The book is aimed primarily at applied mathematicians, aeronautical engineers and space science researchers. The text may be used also as a comprehensive introduction to the mathematical foundations fo aerodynamics, by graduate students in engineering and fluid dynamics with a strong mathematical background.
