ACI 318-11 - Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete

Description:

ACI 318-11
Author: ACI (2011) | Size: 11.1 MB | Format: PDF | Publisher: ACI (2011) | Year: 2011 | pages: 503 | ISBN: 978-0-87031-744-6
The "Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete" ("Code") covers the materials, design, and construction of structural concrete used in buildings and where applicable in nonbuilding Structures. The Code also covers the strength evaluation of existing concrete structures. Among the subjects covered are: contract documents; inspection; materials; durability requirements; concrete quality, mixing, and placing; formwork; embedded pipes; construction joints; reinforcement details; analysis and design; strength and serviceability; flexural and axial loads; shear and torsion; development and splices of reinforcement; slab systems; walls; footings; precast concrete; composite flexural members; prestressed concrete; shells and folded plate members; strength evaluation of existing structures; provisions for seismic design; structural plain concrete; strut-and- tie modeling in Appendix A; alternative design provisions in Appendix B; alternative load and strength reduction factors in Appendix C; and anchoring to concrete in Appendix D. The quality and testing of materials used in construction are covered by reference to the appropriate ASTM standard specifications. Welding of reinforcement is covered by reference to the appropriate American Welding Society (AWS) standard. Uses of the Code include adoption by reference in general building codes, and earlier editions have been widely used in this manner. The Code is written in a format that allows such reference without change to its language. Therefore, background details or suggestions for carrying out the requirements or intent of the Code portion cannot be included.

2.Prestressed Concrete Fifth Edition Upgrade: ACI, AASHTO, IBC 2009 Codes Version (5th Edition)
 Author: Edward G. Nawy | Size: 40.42 MB | Format: PDF | Publisher: Prentice Hall; 5 edition (August 21, 2009) | Year: 2009 | pages: 984 pages | ISBN: 0136081509
Description:
Completely revised to reflect the new ACI 318-08 Building Code and International Building Code, IBC 2009, this popular book offers a unique approach to examining the design of prestressed concrete members in a logical, step-by-step trial and adjustment procedure. Integrates handy flow charts to help readers better understand the steps needed for design and analysis. Includes a revised chapter containing the latest ACI and AASHTO Provisions on the design of post-tensioned beam end anchorage blocks using the strut-and-tie approach in conformity with ACI 318-08 Code. Offers a new complete section with two extensive design examples using the strut-and-tie approach for the design of corbels and deep beams. Features an addition to the elastic method of design, with comprehensive design examples on LRFD and Standard AASHTO designs of bridge deck members for flexure, shear and torsion, conforming to the latest AASHTO specifications. Includes a revised chapter on slender columns, including a simplified load-contour biaxial bending method which is easier to apply in desiign, using moments rather than loads in the reciprocal approach. A useful construction reference for engineers.

Engineered Rock Structures in Mining and Civil Construction

Description:

Engineered Rock Structures in Mining and Civil Construction
Publisher: Taylor & Francis | Pages: 536 | 01/01/2006 | ISBN 978-0-415-40013-8 | PDF | 180 MB
“The book collates and sifts a vast amount of literature on the design of structures in the mining and construction industries to synthesize a comprehensive text on the subject area. The focus is on the application of theory to practice and the book is richly illustrated with worked out examples. The presentation is lucid and based on the extensive professional, teaching and research experience of the authors. The text seeks to address the key issues of design of 'engineered' structures in or on rock. The book will serve as a standard text for undergraduate courses in mining, civil engineering, engineering geology and rock mechanics.”
