Everybody interested about architecture and India must read this book. Charles correa is a master architect that was able to mix a real contemporary style with the indian vernacular architecture. He is very concerned by the future development of the indian cities, some project show it very well. We can see in this book all the main project of his career in the first part with drawings and beautiful pictures. in the second part there is a cronological review of all his project build or not during his long career.

Kahn là người Do Thái, sinh ra tại Kuressaare, thuộc quần đảo Saaremaa của Estonia.Vào năm 1095,gia đình ông di cư đến Mỹ do cha ông lo sợ sẽ bị tái ngũ trong cuộc chiến tranh Nga-Nhật. Ông lớn lên ở Philadelphia và nhập quốc tịch Mỹ vào ngày 15 tháng 3 năm 1914.

Thời trẻ, ông được đào tạo theo một truyền thống cổ điển chặt chẽ với sự nhấn mạnh học tập, sao chép vào các tác phẩm truyền thống tại Đại học Pennsylvania (Penn U.). The 31 works represented here range from the Kim House of 1937 to projects that were in progress in spring of 2000. No particular criterion was used in selecting the works. Diverse projects are juxtaposed, from buildings that were completed yaers ago to unsuccessful entries in competitions and projects that were unfortunately halted before realization, from extremely small houses to enomous office complexes. They involved different design processes. They include projects of K. Associates / Architecs that were carefully considered in detail as well as collaboratively conceived only in diagrammatic form.

I belive that different of background and context will disappear when these projects of diverse origin are axamined solely through the medium of drawings and models. What will be made manifest is the 'distance" that lies between achitecture and reality. I believe that confirming that "distance" is a necessary first step before the next stage begin.
